툰드라의 아침

태양이 부들부들 떨다 가는 곳이 있다 

지구의 북쪽 저 끄트머리

북극곰도 순록도 하얀 입김 내뿜으며

온몸 푸르르 떨곤 하는 엄동설한嚴冬雪寒

해빙기의 아침이 눈을 빛내며 온다

비가 오는 날이면 동물들 깨어나

드넓은 땅에 돋아난 이끼류와 양치류를 먹고

식물들은 더 깊게 뿌리를 내린다

빽빽하게 자라나는 벼과科의 잔디들

절벽 가 바위에서는 바닷말과 해면종이 자라고

자갈 위에서도 로제트 식물이 자란다

해면잔디와 지의류地衣類 히스가 땅 색깔을 바꾼다

산 것들을 살아 있게 하는 자연

여기서는 모든 것이 스스로 그러하였다

눈앞에 아무것도 보이지 않게 하는 겨울 눈보라도

살아 있는 것들의 목숨을 빼앗지는 않았다

아니! 도둑갈매기와 흰올빼미가

산지사방에 피를 흩뿌리기도 한다

레밍을 잡아먹으며 살아가는 늑대와 여우

태어나면 죽는 것들이 있어 유지되는 먹이사슬

사람들아 여기를 동토凍土라고 말하지 말기를

바람도 쉬어가는 날이 있단다

하늘 높은 줄 아는 가문비나무와 젓나무들

기지개 한껏 켜며 툰드라의 아침을 맞이하고 있다

Morning of the Tundra

There is a place where the sun trembles during its stay.

At the northern end of Earth

Polar bears reindeers exhale white vapor and

Shake their bodies in the severe cold.

The morning of the melting season casts light on the snow.

On a rainy day, animals wake up

Eat mosses and ferns sprouting in the vast land;

Plants take deeper and deeper roots.

Grass grows densely;

Seaweeds and sponges grow on rocks near cliffs

And rosettes grow on gravels.

Sponge-like grass, lichens and heaths change the color of soil.

Nature keeps living things alive;

Here, everything came to be on its own.

Even winter blizzard that blinds the sight

Do not take away living lives.

O! Skuas and owls sometimes

Scatter blood all over the mountains.

Wolves and foxes who live on lemming

Some things die when you are born, so the chain is maintained.

People, do not call this a frozen land.

Some days winds are better.

Spruce and chestnut trees humble under the sky

Stretch all the way up, greeting the morning of the tundra.
