쇄빙선의 마음을 따라

눈뜨면 시야는 늘 끝이 없는

가슴 치감는 원시림 같은 바다

얼어붙은 바다 깨뜨리며 나아가면

극지의 바람은 늘 곱절의 아픔을

가져다주곤 했다 아픈 것은

종의 마지막을 기다리는 동식물만이 아니다

내가 버린 빙하기의 시간과

태양의 재림을 기다리는 원대한 바다

잠이 안 오면 오로라를 봐야지

멀리서 보면 참 아름다운 지구

다가가서 보면? 한번 살아보면?

불모의 도시에서 우리는 태웠다

기름을, 플라스틱을, 스티로폴을

뭇 동식물을, 살아 있는 모든 것을

대륙의 저쪽에서는 다시 불길 번져

또 하나의 원시림이 사라지고

좀처럼 계절이 바뀌지 않는 이곳에

낯선 밤이 오면 항해일지를 덮으리라

영하 20도의 이 바다 밑에서도

산 것들이 숨쉬고 있으리니

나는 다시 시작하는 세기의 벽두에

산소마스크 따위는 쓰지 않고

아파도 가는 쇄빙선의 마음을 따라

다만 앞으로, 조금씩 나아가고 싶다

Open my eyes, and I used to see

An endless ocean, caressing the heart like a primeval forest.

As we moved forwards breaking the frozen sea

Polar winds always brought twice

The pain; pain didn't only affect

Plants and animals waiting the end of their species.

The time in the ice age I left behind,

The great sea awaiting the return of the sun.

If I cannot sleep, I will look at the aurora.

Earth is beautiful from far away

Is it from close up as well? Once you live in it?

In the barren city we burned

Oil, plastic, poly foam;

Plants and animals, and all living things.

Across the continent, a flame spread again

Yet another primeval forest disappeared.

Here, the season tends to not change;

On a strange night I will close the logbook.

Even under this sea, at ​​minus 20 degrees

Living creatures are breathing.

At the brink of a new century

Instead of using an oxygen mask

I want to follow along the icebreaker's heart

Merely advancing, little by little.
